ATTENDANCE SUCCESS MENTOR

Sacramento READS! is looking for volunteers to assist in the Attendance Success Mentor Program. Volunteers will work with 15-20 students identified by the school principal, teachers and/or attendance team, who are missing too much school. The Success Mentor will work to increase attendance by having regular contact with students and parents, including daily phone calls home and letters. If the students don’t turn up for school on a given day, the mentor gives them a call to find out where they are. If they are struggling with class work or social dynamics at schools, the mentor is there to help.

Commitment: Volunteers will be asked to commit a minimum of one hour per week, recommended 5 hours.

Requirements: We ask that you attend a 90 minute orientation. Fingerprints and TB clearance required.

Minimum age of 18.
